The School of Making Thinking supports the
Palestinian Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI)
As a cultural institution with a commitment to justice, The School of Making Thinking (SMT) stands in solidarity with the people of Palestine and their sovereignty, and in resistance to the genocide of Palestinian people and culture.
In accordance with this stance, SMT is signing on to support and endorse the Palestinian Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel or PACBI. PACBI was launched in Ramallah in 2004 and is part of the wider Boycott, Divest, and Sanction movement (BDS). PACBI guidelines ask institutions to refuse support from the state of Israel and reject projects that normalize the occupation of Palestine and dispossession of Palestinians. Let it be clear that “organizations, rather than individuals (and never identities) are the boycott’s target.” * |
Let it also be clear that SMT does not support any form of anti-Semitism, and that we do not equate criticism of the State with discrimination against a person on the basis of their religion or cultural identity. SMT does not support religious or cultural discrimination; SMT does support criticism of the actions taken by States and governing bodies, including the State of Israel.
Given the climate of censorship and narratives being twisted in the media to positively reflect political allegiances between world powers rather than the good of the people, SMT sees it as imperative that we lift up voices of pro-Palestinian resistance movements that are being distorted and censored. We stand with other PACBI signers to encourage all art organizations regardless of size to take action against the killing of Palestinian people and the destruction of Palestinian culture.
