Our Artist Leadership Training Program (ALTP) is a branch of our programming that aims to cultivate ethical leadership within our organization and our community at large. We see leadership as inherent to arts work as well as world-building, and leadership development takes training, community and opportunities: we want to offer all three.

A note from our Artistic Executive Director:
Hey there!
Thank you for your interest in “Liberation for All of Us: Queer and Trans Liberation as Collective Liberation”, a political education training from the Anti-Oppression Resource and Training Alliance (AORTA). I am thrilled that The School of Making Thinking is able to offer this training for FREE because of our belief that arts and culture workers need political education in order to be strategic in their arts practice and leadership. Last year we ran AORTA's Uprooting White Supremacy in Organizations training, which had great attendance and supported some really productive conversation, relationship building across agencies, and analysis amongst participants. This year we are building on the success of the political education component of ALTP with another free offering. Thank you to those of you who attended last year; I look forward to seeing you again this year.
It is an important time to be deepening our intersectional analysis of how liberation works, and to personalize the struggles of folks from across our community. As we gear up for the 2024 election and its aftermath, whatever that may be, we want to be equipped with frameworks to understand why advocacy is important. I am personally really looking forward to deepening my analysis and frameworks for understanding why and how queer and trans liberation is tied to collective liberation, in order to talk to my communities and family about why they should care about trans-exclusionary legislation and/or threats to the civil rights of queer people.
We offer this training for free because we want to be in this learning and conversation with you! Please fill out the registration form to sign up. I really look forward to learning alongside you.
Do you have further questions? Feel free to email me at [email protected]. Also check out AORTA's website for more info on the training and for what to expect.
If you like this work and you want to see us do more of it, please consider making a donation HERE.
I really look forward to connecting with you.
In gratitude,
